Publications & Lectures

BOOK UPDATE: My manuscript has been sent off to be typeset by my publisher, Cambridge Scholars Publishing. Hopefully, all editing errors have been found and corrected. The index will be created once I receive the proof back from typesetting. We will be creating a cover soon.
There are still ten chapters, and I've also added an introduction. Here's a list of the chapters:

Introduction

Ch. 1: Making a Case for Learning

Ch. 2: What is Learning?

Ch. 3: What Learning Looks Like

Ch. 4: Learning Theories

Ch. 5: Cognitive Free Will Learning Theory

Ch. 6: The Role of the Teacher

Ch. 7: Teens and Tweens

Ch. 8: Unlocking Creativity

Ch.  9: Setting Up Your Classroom

Ch. 10: Classroom Management

The title has been locked in and will be: The Beginning Teacher's K-6 Classroom: Combining Learning Theory and Practical Application to Motivate Students to Want to Learn.

I am thrilled for this opportunity, and exceedingly proud of the product I've created. This text took just over a year to write.... and more than 15 years to think about and develop! My target audience will be teacher candidates in a multiple subjects (K-8) credential program and new teacher hires in school districts and individual schools. It is an easy read, with many stories added in lots of boxes to break up the information into smaller bites (thanks, Melanie!). Let me know how many copies you would like to purchase.

BOOK UPDATE: I've been working on my guide for beginning K-6 teachers for a year now and the project is nearing completion, with only 1.5 chapters left to write. It's been a highly rewarding experience for me, and I can hardly wait to share it with the academic world. The title will probably be: The Beginning K-6 Teacher's Guide. Book chapters include:

Ch. 1: Making a Case For Learning

Ch. 2: What is Learning?

Ch. 3: What Learning Looks Like

Ch. 4: Learning Theories

Ch. 5: Cognitive Free Will Learning Theory

Ch. 6: The Role of the Teacher

Ch. 7: Teens and 'Tweens

Ch. 8: Unlocking Creativity

Ch. 9: Setting Up Your Classroom

Ch. 10: Classroom Management
